The active preservation of savoir-faire
The Atelier-Musée du Chapeau is always attached to the active preservation of savoir-faire
In 1998, a year after the last factory’s closing down, a post of stylist-milliner and a workshop were created in order to highlight savoir-faire by producing hats and to safeguard handicrafts and knack by practicing.
In 2003, a few machines were saved and this made possible the safeguarding of six steps of the hat making process, from the finishing to the trim.
In 2015, Isabelle Grange became the new stylist milliner after she made some training courses at the professional training centre of the Atelier-Musée du Chapeau and after being advised by former hat-makers. Since 2020, she’s helped by Didier Bajas for hat production.
